X2O Media announces software plus services strategy

MONTREAL — X2O Media, a provider of digital signage technology, network management and content services, has announced its new Software Plus Services strategy. Building on the principle that digital signage is more than just hardware and software, X2O’s Software Plus Services initiative combines everything a digital signage customer may need into a packaged solution customized to meet specific user requirements. This includes not only X2O’s software applications, but also a wide range of managed service options to choose from in order for users to build and run their own networks, handling as much or as little of the day-to-day operations as they wish. In support of this strategy, X2O is also releasing version 2.5 of the company’s flagship Xpresenter digital signage platform at the digital signage Expo 2009.
Based on a comprehensive mix of products and managed services, X2O’s Software Plus Services offering is designed to give customers unprecedented power and flexibility for setting up digital signage networks of any size and complexity. And just as important, the Software Plus Services model provides a flexible and affordable pricing scale that puts X2O’s tools and services within reach of everyone.
Unlike the traditional Software as a Service (SaaS) model, the X2O Software Plus Services approach allows digital signage networks to benefit from the highest possible on-screen quality, delivered by X2O’s resolution-independent player. The X2O Xpresenter Player features a powerful graphics rendering engine that outputs content in broadcast quality with improved performance over other Web-based playout systems.
“To better service our customers, we made the decision to introduce our Software Plus Services strategy, which we feel offers greater value and flexibility to our users,” said David Wilkins, X2O Media president and CEO. “The Software Plus Services approach introduces a number of value-added services to complement our advanced software applications. For our customers, this means that they, not X2O, choose how they want our digital signage solutions implemented. We will release a number of products throughout the year that support this new strategy, including the Xpresenter 2.5 platform announced today.”
X2O’s Software Plus Services launch includes the introduction of the X2O Web portal, a collection of powerful tools for managing all aspects of network operation — all from a standard Web browser. The X2O Web portal includes tools for easily updating and scheduling content, distributing content to specific screens or groups of screens, and building advertising campaigns based on business rules and X2O’s patent-pending “smart template” technology.
Xpresenter 2.5 adds several enhancements to support X2O’s new strategy, including a new release of the Xpresenter Server, new versions of centralized Web-based content management tools, and other Web-based services.
X2O also provides subscription-based services for digital signage networks, including full network hosting at X2O’s data center, end-to-end content management services, and around-the-clock system monitoring from X2O’s network operations center, with proactive troubleshooting and remote problem resolution. Additionally, X2O offers a full range of content services, including data feed subscriptions, custom video content, and full creative design and video production services.
The latest release of Xpresenter, version 2.5, will be on display at the digital signage Expo in Las Vegas, Feb. 25-26, in booth 2223.
