Spinetix appoints Amber Technology as its digital signage distributor

LAUSANNE, Switzerland — Swiss networked video vendor Spinetix has appointed Amber Technology to distribute its digital signage products in Australia and New Zealand. The audiovisual distributor’s national display product manager, Rod Sommerich, said the alliance came about after an intensive research process. Amber is Spinetix’s first local distributor.
“Amber Technology had been looking into the digital signage market for about two years,” he said. “We had considered five or six other vendors but we weren’t satisfied with the capabilities of either the manufacturers or the products.”
The vendor and distributor have been collaborating for the past three months on the launch of the Hyper Media Player, HMP100. The digital signage appliance uses open source codes, allowing integration with a variety of applications. Based on a Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) platform, it gives organizations the ability to mix streaming and encoded videos, images and audio file formats that can tie in with RSS or XML feeds.
Sommerich said Amber will market the product to resellers with specific knowledge in digital signage.
“It’s targeted to the specialty resellers that have expertise in that market and would understand the deployment and management of digital signage solutions,” he said.
Amber Technology is going to soft-launch the HMP100 in Australia at training events in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, Australia, later this month.
