Screenmedia Expo: Vizrt, not just for broadcasters anymore

At this year’s Screenmedia Expo Europe 2010 in London, Vizrt is making its digital signage debut.
Already established as a provider of real-time graphics to broadcasters, the company now wants to move into the digital signage and place-based media market as well, says sales coordinator Maja Trajkovska.
Some of Vizrt’s core broadcast customers — major networks like Sky and BBC — will in fact be using the company’s graphics for real-time updates during their coverage of tomorrow’s parliamentary elections in the United Kingdom, Trajkovska says.
“Real-time graphics is our specialty, so were now trying to give that concept to the digital signage market and do real-time advertisements,” she said.
This year’s Screenmedia Expo marks the company’s first foray into the digital signage tradeshow world.
Headquartered in Norway and with 25 offices worldwide, Vizrt started looking into the digital signage market about two years ago, started selling in Thailand about a year ago and is now starting in on the European market, Trajkovska says.
“We want to see whether this market is interested in what we have,” she said, noting that so far it’s mostly been system integrators and graphic designers who see right away the potential of the company’s offering.
“We want to reach through them and reach the end customer.”
