LONDON — CONRAC, a manufacturer of displays for public information since 1956, offered three new display solutions at Screen Media Expo 2009.
Narrow bezel displays
This latest generation of flat screens for digital signage is mainly characterised by the almost frameless design. A bezel width of less than 15mm, the high resolution and excellent image quality make the narrow bezel series the ideal displays for cluster solutions.
The narrow bezel series is available in various screen sizes, the smallest being 42-inch diagonal. The display configuration can be a monitor-only version using CONRAC’s video electronics, an integrated IPC or integrated controller board.
CONRAC’s video electronics supports cluster solutions of up to 4×4 displays. The integrated master display function allows users control all other displays simultaneously via a RS232 port. Predefined cluster configurations can be selected in the on-screen menu.
The company is introducing a brand new public display series with an innovative cooling concept lowering the temperature and enhancing the display lifetime. The intelligent system works in two cycles, an open loop and a closed loop. Despite the public display’s laminated safety glass panel, it cools the TFT panel from front and back. Furthermore, a special sealing method avoids dust accumulation inside the display. The cooling system is energy efficient and maintenance-free. On display at Screen Media Expo is a 65-inch display in portrait format and a 40-inch display in landscape format.
New conceptual design for CONRAC’s outdoor displays
Installations in public areas have their own special requirements. Continual demolition, graffiti and thefts are major problems that cost large amounts of money.
To counteract vandalism, all CONRAC outdoor displays feature very rugged aluminium housings with durable powder coating as well as laminated safety glass with impact protection. To protect the displays from tampering, there are no external controls. Theft-deterrent systems are integrated in the front frame of the unit.
Depending on the application, the outdoor series can be supplied according to IP54 specification (full protection against contact and interior injurious dust deposits as well as against splashed water from all directions) and IP 65 (total protection against contact, dust penetration and water projected in jets from any direction). To avoid time-consuming, expensive maintenance, an elaborate concept allows the exchange of filters in the IP54 version without even having to open the housing.
