Scala supports Windows Vista with latest InfoChannel release

EXTON, Pa. — Scala, provider of end-to-end solutions for the digital-signage market, has announced the the release of Scala InfoChannel 5, 3.1.

According to a news release, as Microsoft phases out Windows XP, Scala customers can also make the migration from XP to Vista using Scala InfoChannel’s  3.1, which supports the InfoChannel Designer and Player.
Scala says Windows Vista will allow users to run Scala InfoChannel, as long as they install Windows Vista Business Service Pack 1 or Windows Vista Ultimate Service Pack 1.

In addition to Vista support, Release 3.1 includes support for Russian, bringing the total of available translated languages for the InfoChannel platform to nine, including English, French, Spanish, simplified and traditional Chinese, Japanese, German, Russian and Korean. Scala also supports on-screen text in more than 70 languages.

To address corporate IT network configurations, Release 3.1 includes support for publishing content from Designer through a proxy server that allows Scala content to flow through large corporate networks that control Scala’s Internet traffic.
The new release also includes support for Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express and various optimizations for large networks.
