Restaurant digital signage startup receives $1 million in funding

Austin American-Statesman: Austin startup DisplayPoints Inc., which sells digital media services to the restaurant industry, has raised $1 million from private investors, including the former chief executive of Minute Maid and the former president of the Chili’s restaurant chain. The two-year-old company has developed a digital display box that sits on restaurant tables, where it flashes dining information such as daily specials as well as advertising. DisplayPoints said it has completed pilots at chains Bennigan’s, Hooters and Iron Cactus, and has signed advertisers such as liquor giant Diageo, Dr. Pepper and MillerCoors.
