Ralph Lauren launches iPhone app to work with interactive store window

TheChip Chick blog reportedthis week that Ralph Lauren, ever the innovator in the interactive store window realm, has created a free iPhone app that allows users to create their own rugby shirts. Shirts can also be designed on a large screen touch window set up at the Ralph Lauren Rugby Store in New York City and San Francisco.

The touchscreen window was launched in 2008.View Video.

Designs, whether entered from the store window or iPhones, can be sent to Ralph Lauren and made into actual shirts. Chip Chick says that the choice of the rugby line comes from the need to target a demographic that uses facebook and has a desire to be creative and share it with the world.

In addition to designing shirts, the iPhone app allows users to upload a picture of themselves to the design to see how it will look on them. Users can also shop the rugby store via the phone.

Ralph Lauren hasbeen in the forefront of interactive store windows for several years, winning numerous DIGI Awards, Fourth Screen Awards and KioskCom Self-Service Excellence Awards.
