Pixel Inspiration rolls out hospital networks

MANCHESTER, U.K. — Pixel Inspiration has completed the installation of a multi-screen digital signage network at two NHS hospitals, Salford Royal & Royal Bournemouth, in the U.K.

Pixel Inspiration has installed nine LCD screens in key dwell areas across the hospitals’ reception, main entrances, outpatients, A&E and several specialist waiting areas.

The screens display important patient and visitor information such as consultant locations, updates on A&E waiting times, accurate wayfinding, hospital cleanliness updates or healthy living advice in a visually stimulating digital format.

Live, subtitled TV content such as sports or news coverage can also be displayed, providing entertainment in waiting areas without detracting from the peaceful environment required by patients.

The system can be easily managed by the hospitals’ internal administrative staff so that up-to-the-minute information can be targeted to an individual screen or broadcast across all screens simultaneously at the click of a mouse.

Pixel Inspiration worked closely with the Trusts to develop a digital signage solution to meet their individual requirements, from the provision of hardware and software through to the design and manufacture of the secure cabinets used to house the NEC 46-inch LCD screens and content players.

“The digital screens provide a new channel which enables hospitals to speak directly to patients and visitors in a clear and engaging manner, whilst also helping to create a better environment for all,” said Robert Turner, NHS account manager, said. “We’re beginning to see a lot of interest in digital signage from forward-thinking healthcare trusts keen to explore new and exciting ways of engaging their audiences and expect this trend to grow considerably over the next few years.”
