Nexcom launches media player for in-vehicle digital signage

Nexcom has introduced the PDSV 2000, an in-vehicle digital media player which has been preloaded with digital signage software and is designed to withstand the rigors of mobile digital signage applications.

The PDSV 2000 hardware platform meets most industry standards for in-vehicle operation and has an integrated power-ignition function which enables it to be powered directly from a vehicle’s battery. To enable a number of applications to be considered, PDSV 2000 has an integrated GPS function and connectivity via Wi-Fi, 3.5G and Bluetooth. The platform can support dual independent displays with VGA and DVI-D outputs and is based on the energy-efficient Intel Atom N270 processor with Intel Graphic Engine GMA 950.

The PDSV 2000 comes preloaded with digital signage software, which enables users to lay out, schedule, preview and play digital signage presentations. The software can support multizone positioning, scrolling text and flash and can play numerous high-quality video file formats including MPEG1/2, MPEG4, AVI, MOV, WMV and SWF. Multimedia presentations can be remotely uploaded/managed via WLAN or 3.5G network over the Internet. When used in combination with the platform’s GPS module, presentations can be scheduled to play at an exact location on a vehicle’s journey, enabling advertisers to target a specific audience with a specific message.
