More than 100 attend NEC/DST webinar on educational tablet apps

NEC Display Solutions and digital signage Today recently hosted an informative webinar on the increasing use of tablet-based applications in the classroom.

The session, led jointly by Rich McPherson and Richard Ventura, both with NEC, looked at the growing use of tablet apps in both elementary, middle and high schools, as well as in universities and colleges.

The benefits of tablets in the classroom can range from reducing students’ anxiety by letting them work a problem on an iPad as opposed to at the chalkboard to freeing teachers from the front of the classroom by allowing them to interact with screens or displays while roaming around the room.

Ventura is director of sales, vertical solutions for NEC, and is responsible for managing business development and growth of market penetration within the restaurant, higher education and retail vertical markets. He also manages a team responsible for designing and implementing solutions such as digital menu boards, interactive kiosks, digital signage and in-store advertising systems for both customers and partners

McPherson is product manager, projectors, for NEC, and is responsible for the company’s full projector lineup, manages the marketing and messaging of projector families, pricing and inventory issues, product roadmaps and all engineering and technical aspects of the projectors.
