ISE: Harris demos digital signage advancements for customer experience, ROI

Harris Corp., an international communications and information technology company, is showcasing the latest enhancements to its comprehensive digital out-of-home (DOOH) solution at Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) 2010, being held in Amsterdam Feb. 2-4 at the RAI Exhibition and Congress Centre.
“Harris continues to revolutionize the way that businesses operate digital signage networks — large and small,” said Brian Cabeceiras, vice president of strategic marketing and technology for Harris Broadcast Communications. “At the core, digital signage is about enhancing the customer experience and maximizing a business’ return on investment. We’re unveiling a new version of our digital out-of-home solution that expands monetization of networks by supporting IPTV, mobile delivery and extensive content targeting, enabling further optimization of revenue.”
Comprising the Harris InfoCaster digital signage system and the Punctuate business and advertising management application, the Harris digital out-of-home offering enables users to ingest, schedule and distribute dynamic — and targeted — content. Customers have a choice of three new InfoCaster hardware platforms that deliver smaller, more cost-efficient form factors for compact installations, yet are packed with power and functionality. The new designs range from tabletop mount (DS500, with a single HDMI output) to rack/wall-mount versions (the DS1100 with dual DVI outputs and the 2RU DS4100 model with quad-channel outputs).
New software features for the InfoCaster system are well-suited to markets such as live-event venues and transportation. These include enhanced support for media playout over IPTV and mobile DTV delivery platforms — including the Harris MPH ATSC mobile DTV solution. Other software features include audio and video synchronization and automated capabilities for column resizing, screen transitions and audio leveling. These features provide diverse tools for the network operator that significantly enhance the consumer experience. Support for Windows Vista/Windows 7 also is included.
Visitors to the show also will see the latest evolution of the Punctuate business management software, which was designed specifically to optimize and target content across digital out-of-home networks. New enhancements to the Punctuate software offer support for sellable items through InfoCaster inventory creation and a scalable architecture that targets and schedules content across thousands of players. Punctuate also now includes an enhanced capacity to view, track, sell, schedule and bill for advertising in both video and still screen regions, and improved reporting functionality that delivers detailed campaign performance and confirmation reports.
“The positive impact of high-quality, dynamic content cannot be understated,” said Cabeceiras. “The combination of Harris InfoCaster and Punctuate allows businesses to leverage highly compelling content to operate profitable, scalable digital signage networks and take advantage of new opportunities to generate revenue.”
