NEW YORK — Strategy Institute has announced that the third-annual “Digital Out-of-Home Media Investor Conference” is taking place on Oct. 7-8, 2008 in New York City. With 28 OOH transactions in 2007 worth $1.3 billion in deal value and more than $100 million in private equity deals in the first five months of 2008, the pace of M&A and financing continues unabated. With media giants like CBS Outernet and NBC Everywhere becoming a major force, many pundits believe increased industry consolidation is on the way for 2009. “Rapid growth, industry maturity and major changes in the dynamic digital display sector are opening new opportunities for investors, network operators and technology drivers,” said Lyle Bunn, principal and strategy architect for BUNN Co. “This is the one event where everyone with investment and funding interest gathers.”
Opportunities in Asia and the Middle East have also resulted in large deals. Warburg Pincus, a global private-equity firm recently invested roughly $69 million in Laqshya Media, giving it a 15 percent stake in the company. Laqshya, a leading OOH media advertising company, along with DSN Global and Waygate Capital, will provide insights on investment activities in India at the conference.
