MADISON, Ala., — AvaLAN Wireless Systems, a provider of long-range industrial wireless Ethernet products, has appointed Matt Nelson to be its new chief executive and president. Matt Nelson brings a combination of business and technical acumen in the digital signage and wireless networking industry with over 20 years of innovative business, technical and global market experience. Since inception, AvaLAN Wireless has been founder-driven by Michael Derby and has had a compound annual growth rate of over 50 percent. AvaLAN has more than 20,000 industrial long-range wireless Ethernet devices already deployed for surveillance, security, access control and digital signage.
Prior to joining AvaLAN Wireless, Matt was employed at Avocent Corporation where he introduced the world’s first wireless VGA/DVI/HDMI extension products and was responsible for marketing and strategic planning in the professional audio/video and digital signage market segments. Nelson has successfully launched several products for Avocent, Motorola, 3COM, Iomega and Time Domain, as well as the first ultra-wide-band chipset, the first single-chip SOC commercially available for broadband DSL, and the first wide-area wireless PC card for laptop computers.
