Black Box Corporation, a provider of voice communications, data infrastructure and product solutions, has announced the latest evolution of its iCOMPEL digital signage platform, featuring media storage enhancements and the addition of solid-state, fanless models for use in rugged environments.
These next-generation iCOMPEL appliances, which debuted at digital signage Expo 2010 in Las Vegas, include:
- New HD Plus High-Speed iCOMPEL versions that provide 500 GB of onboard media storage, allowing their use as content servers for other iCOMPEL players.
- New affordably-priced HD Plus iCOMPEL versions with 160 GB of integrated media storage.
- New small-form-factor, 32 GB solid-state HD iCOMPEL models that can be attached to the back of screens.
- Ruggedized versions of the new HD iCOMPEL models featuring a fanless design, solid-state storage, and no moving parts.
George Borden, Black Box National Sales Manager for digital signage, says the ruggedized models are perfect for factory floor, industrial automation and mass transit digital signage applications.
“For displays in areas with equipment vibration, these tough iCOMPEL units are the way to go,” Borden said. “They’re also great for use in garages, sports venues, subway stations — basically anywhere you don’t want the rumbling of feet or trains to affect your digital signage operation.”
The iCOMPEL comes with free lifetime software upgrades, free professionally-designed screen layouts, and free lifetime Tech Support. Loaded with features typically found only on high-priced systems, the iCOMPEL simplifies the tasks of assembling and distributing video, audio and Web HTML or RSS content to one or many screens.
