Cables To Go extends VGA signals for digital signage applications

MORAINE, Ohio — Cables To Go, a provider of cabling and connectivity solutions, has announced the release of the TruLink VGA With Audio Over Cat5 Extender, which extends VGA and audio signals up to 1000 feet over Cat5e cable. For wireless VGA connectivity, the company also announced it is now shipping its CES Innovations 2009 Award-winning Wireless USB to VGA Adapter Kit.

The VGA with Audio Extender is for applications where the VGA monitor needs to be further away than the general 100 foot VGA cable limitation. This includes digital signage installations in areas such as retail outlets, churches, classrooms and boardrooms where the computer is often placed in a different room keeping it secure and out of sight.

The TruLink VGA with Audio Over Cat5 Extender transmits both VGA and 3.5 mm audio signals over a Cat5e Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) cable. This also allows organizations to take advantage of their existing UTP cable infrastructure to avoid costly installations and cable runs.

“Both the VGA Extender and the Wireless VGA Adapter add to our extensive line of digital signage products and solutions that give customers an easy installation that is cost-effective and reliable,” said Gary Hess, Cables To Go director of product management. “With the ability to transmit a VGA signal over long distances or through a wireless connection, users have the flexibility to deploy a digital signage solution that fits their specific needs.”
